It is precisely for these extreme applications that delta4x4 has set a new benchmark: the “Legacy Defence.”
Maximum Strength, Minimum Weight: The Art of Forging
The newly developed Legacy Defence is a one-piece forged high-performance wheel in the 18×8.5-inch size. The sophisticated forging process extremely densifies the aluminum structure. The result is a level of mechanical strength that simply cannot be achieved with traditional cast wheels.
Its technical specifications set new standards in the segment: The Legacy Defence is designed to handle a massive wheel load of up to 2,500 kg. This allows it to effortlessly withstand the enormous static and dynamic forces that occur in fully loaded expedition and heavy-duty vehicles on rough terrain.
However, the engineers’ true masterpiece becomes apparent when you weigh it: Despite these immense reserves of strength, the rim weighs in at just 19.5 kg. This astonishingly low weight significantly reduces unsprung mass, leading to a noticeable improvement in driving dynamics, steering response, and efficiency—both on the road and in rugged off-road conditions.
Tailor-made for the icons of off-road driving
A heavy-duty powerhouse like this calls for the right carrier vehicles. Legacy Defense was specifically designed for two of the world’s most legendary and reliable all-wheel-drive platforms:
- The Mercedes G-Class: The perfect choice for demanding commercial use, government requirements, or high-end expedition conversions.
- The Toyota Land Cruiser: The global benchmark for uncompromising reliability meets a wheel that is every bit as impressive as that legacy.

Tire-Guard Runflatsystem
The rim is designed for use with the Tire-Guard Run-Flat system. The 20″ GUARD aluminum wheel, also newly released in 2026, already features this system. With this, the Legacy Defence expands the delta4x4 Defence model lineup to include an 18″ model. To accommodate the Guard system, the rim must have a circumferential support ring in the rim bed. The system will soon be available for the Legacy Defence as well.
Outlook and Availability
Development and rigorous stress testing on our test benches are in their final stages. Delivery of the first batches of Legacy Defense is expected to begin in October 2026.
