Dakar 2026 endurance test: Loder Tire faces the ultimate stress test
From classic rallies to service pickups: delta4x4 validates tire performance in the world’s most extreme terrain.
Unterumbach, December 2025 – When the Dakar Rally starts in January 2026, delta4x4 will be sending its own tire brand, Loder Tire, into the world’s toughest test lab. Although the tires have long proven themselves on European roads, the off-road specialist is now deliberately seeking out extreme conditions:
the next stage of development is to be achieved in the desert of Saudi Arabia.
Two different application scenarios – one goal: maximum resilience

Dakar Classic: Precision and agility in the Puch
In the Dakar Classic competition, the company family personally takes responsibility for practical testing. Maximilian Loder sits behind the wheel of the Puch as driver, supported by Laurence Loder as co-driver and navigator. Together, they analyze the handling of the tires at the limits – in particular traction, agility, and stability at extremely low air pressure in soft sand fields. The findings are fed directly into further technical development.

The Amarok under constant stress: service and support vehicle
The requirements in the convoy are completely different. The company’s own VW Amarok serves as the central service and media vehicle. It is loaded to the brim with tools, spare parts, and photo and video equipment.
While the Puch dances through the sand, the Amarok, as a heavy “workhorse,” has to constantly cover ground to accompany the rally convoy and ensure documentation. It has to function under enormous temperature and weight loads—an ideal endurance test for the load capacity, heat resistance, and carcass stability of the tires. Failure is not an option here.
Development for series production
“The Dakar is unforgiving. That’s exactly why we’re here,” explains Sebastian Boser, Head of Marketing at delta4x4. “We validate our products under conditions that cannot be simulated. The data from the lightweight Puch and the heavy Amarok flows directly into our development process. Anyone who can survive here will also deliver maximum reserves in everyday European use.”
