Corsica – the “Island of Beauty” – welcomed us this year with rough trails, fascinating landscapes and Mediterranean flair. The delta4x4 Explorer Tour 2024 took participants and vehicles on a journey full of challenges, team spirit and unforgettable moments.
A start in style: Bastia and the Mediterranean
After the individual arrival, the first participants met on the ferry from Livorno to Bastia. The conversations quickly turned to the vehicles, which could not have been more different: From the powerful RAM TRX from Influencer Schäfchen to the stylish Toyota RAV4 with an original delta4x4 conversion from the early 2000s, which was a real eye-catcher with its striking look.
The first hotel, a charming mansion near Bastia, provided the perfect setting for the start of the tour. At the briefing, start numbers and goodie packages were distributed before the evening ended with a meal together and live music. The participants took advantage of the relaxed atmosphere to get to know each other and share the anticipation of the upcoming adventures.
Day 1: Off-road through the mountains and along the coast
The first off-road day took us into the mountainous landscape of Corsica. The route offered rocky passages, tight curves and breathtaking views – perfect terrain to put the vehicles to the test. In particular, the VW Amarok BEAST in the BF Goodrich Trim and the robust Landrover Defender impressively proved that they are built for these challenges.
Already in the early afternoon we reached the azure blue Mediterranean Sea. Here the participants enjoyed the view and used the scenery for a first group photo. The mixture of rugged mountain scenery and the gentle beauty of the sea made this moment unforgettable.
The day ended in an idyllic hotel on a raging river. Some participants took the opportunity to take a dip in the pool, while others relaxed with Corsican specialties and wine.
Day 2: Team spirit and a thirst for adventure
On the second day, the off-road routes became even more challenging. The participants surpassed themselves with every challenge – whether in the narrow mountain roads or on the bumpy paths. The classic Toyota Landcruiser proved to be just as confident on these routes as the modern delta4x4 Ford Bronco, whose driving performance and comfort were equally impressive.
But the biggest challenge awaited in the middle of the track: one of the Mercedes G-Classes had problems. What followed was a prime example of teamwork. With combined forces – and one or two helpful tips – the G-Class was quickly roadworthy again. This moment showed how strong the cohesion was among the participants.
Our second hotel, overlooking the sea and surrounded by nature, offered the perfect relaxation after an eventful day. The evening was characterized by a good atmosphere, delicious food and lots of laughter.
Day 3: A special moment on the beach
On the third day, the route took us from east to west – across the island. A stopover at a picturesque lake offered the opportunity to take in the impressive nature of Corsica. The participants cheered on a local rally group and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.
Our last hotel, a beautiful property near Olmeto, was located directly on the sea and offered a fantastic view of the coast. It was the perfect place to end the tour in style.
Rumors made the rounds that a couple from the group could have gotten engaged in the romantic evening atmosphere on the beach. True or not, the performance added an extra pinch of magic to the evening.
The final evening in the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant was a culinary highlight. The participants exchanged stories, reviewed the last few days and toasted the successful tour together.
Conclusion: Corsica, you were wonderful
After four days full of adventure, team spirit and fascinating landscapes, the first participants said goodbye the next morning. Others accompanied each other to the ferry to Bastia, where the tour ended with a last coffee and a lot of laughter.
