delta4x4 – The unbeatable Suzuki Jimny
Suzuki Jimny with portal axles: delta4x4 and Avus Auto joins forces
In 1980 delta4x4 entered the off-road tuning scene by optimizing the Suzuki Jimny (LJ) the forefather of today’s Jimny (GJ). Back in the 80’s the delta4x4 Suzuki was considered well-nigh invincible in the world of off-road competition. 40 years on delta4x4 with Avus Auto of Switzerland are working together to build todays unbeatable Suzuki for the off road.
The Lucerne, based Avus Auto has earned a reputation in the tuning scene for its exceptional and unusual conversions. Their latest stroke of genius is to fit a small fleet of twelve Suzuki Jimny’s with “Tibus” portal axles. delta4x4 was tasked with providing this versatile off-road vehicle with the right rims, tires, width extensions and on request; a stainless-steel frontal protection that comes with a three-ton winch.
For this first Jimny with portal axles, delta4x4 opted for the Klassik B 8-hole rim design in size 18×8.5 inch, fitted with the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S in 265/60R18 format. The benefits of this combination are that the all-terrain tire has tremendous off-road potential and bears the Snowflake symbol identifying it as a bona fide winter tire. The Klassik B rim is equipped with a replaceable collision guard which safeguards the wheel against off road and curbs damage.
To further optimize the Jimny off road experience, the vehicle is given a 4cm body lift with adjustable shock absorbers that are connected with a remote reservoir technology. In conjunction with the portal axles and the larger wheels the ground clearance increases to 40 cm underneath the differentials. Despite all of this what makes the Jimny conversion very special is that without the roof rack the vehicle is still only about 1.8m high. Also included is an option of a 100% differential lock system for front and rear axles, this along with a three-ton Horntools winch makes the Jimny portal axle conversion fit for the most challenging off-road tasks.
The first of the portal axle Jimny limited series are homologated for Switzerland and Germany and are available to order. The price of the vehicle starts at 56.000€ (60.000 Swiss Francs). The Jimny with all options including differential lock on both axles and winch costs round 65.000€ (70.000 Swiss Francs). The first vehicles have already been sold, so waste no time in securing this off-road wonder!
