Different types of appraisals – explained in an understandable way
When it comes to the individualization of your vehicle, appraisals play a decisive role. They not only ensure legal certainty, but also the technical reliability of the installed parts. In this blog post, we explain the different types of appraisals that are relevant for delta4x4 products and what you should consider as a vehicle owner.
Parts certificate
The parts certificate is the most frequently used certificate for our rims and is issued, for example, by organizations such as TÜV or Dekra. It contains important information, including:
- Permissible tyre sizes
- Load capacity of the rims
- Requirements for use
After acceptance by an inspector, it must be carried with you and, in the best case, should be entered in the vehicle documents.
EC Opinion
Some of our products, such as front bars or headlights, have an EC certificate. The big advantage of this is that products with an EC certificate are not subject to registration. This means that they can be used without any further administrative effort. These certificates are valid throughout Europe and offer a simple solution for vehicle owners who want to customize their vehicle.
General Operating Permit (ABE)
Many customers ask for the General Operating Permit (ABE). This offers the advantage that no entry in the vehicle documents is required. However, delta4x4 rims and complete wheels usually do not have an ABE. Why? Because the wheel-tyre combinations approved in an ABE often only apply to near-production wheel-tyre combinations. Our products – from large off-road rims to wider complete wheels – push these boundaries. They give your vehicle a unique design that goes far beyond the standard standard.
Strength Assessment
A strength certificate is issued specifically for rims and documents the load capacity of the respective rim. This certificate is particularly important if there is no parts certificate, e.g. for more exotic vehicles. The entry is made here by means of an individual acceptance by a specialized examiner. This form of testing makes it possible to put even individual and unusual vehicle conversions on the road in a legally compliant manner.
