More off-road performance for the cult SUV
The Duster has now achieved cult status with its owners – as an inexpensive SUV with simple but reliable technology and no frills in terms of equipment. But when off-road performance beyond the SUV standards is required, the compact Dacia has to be spiced up a little – and there is still room for improvement in terms of looks in series production.
Accordingly, delta4x4 has taken on the Dacia Duster and developed a complete package for it. In order to improve the cross-country mobility of the cult Romanian, the Odelzhausen-based off-road specialist has installed a chassis elevation using a spacer, which provides three centimeters more ground clearance and also improves the relevant terrain angles accordingly. Another plus in height is the replacement of the standard wheels with a set of BF Goodrich T / A KO2 in the format 215/70 x 16, which with its all-terrain profile also significantly improves traction off-road. In addition, it has a label with the snowflake symbol, which identifies it as a winter tire. If the ground clearance is no longer sufficient in the toughest terrain, an underride guard made of 5mm thick aluminum prevents damage to the underside of the engine and transmission. If the forward thrust of the delta-Dacia on the steep slope or in the bottomless mud hole nevertheless ends, it can rely on the assistance of an electric winch. With a tensile load of two tons, the Winch by Horn Tools, which is concealed behind the bumper and thus installed in compliance with the law, frees him from even the most difficult situations. The Odelzhausen technology package for the Duster is rounded off by a set of rally-tested PIAA headlights, which offer one of the best light yields in the world. Equipped in this way, the delta4x4 Duster has already become much more attractive in terms of appearance – the final rounding off is the front bar, which consists of 63 millimeter thick, highly polished stainless steel tubes and meets the legal requirements for pedestrian protection. Depending on the tire choice, the complete wheel set in 16 inches is available from delta4x4 from around 1,350 euros, the wheel set shown with the BF Goodrich T / A KO2 in the 215/70 x 16 format is 1,790 euros. The elevation by about 30 mm strikes at 490 euros, the underrun protection from 240 euros. The price for the Horn tools winch with a two-ton pull load is 990 euros, the stainless steel front bar costs 335 euros. The PIAA headlight costs 350 euros with the cable set. All part prices are plus installation costs.
